We are the World

Allen and I stayed up WAY too late last night working on the 8th grade slide show. Who knew it could be so complicated? Ok, it wasn't so complicated. We are both just OCD.
Allen had his students give him ideas for music to go with the slide show. As we browsed through Itunes to preview songs that were suggested, we were quick taken back. We gasped, we blushed, we pressed stop. What are teenagers listening to? Granted I am a little out of touch with what is hip as I listen to show tunes, but these songs were unreal.
We finally chose "Firework" by Katy Perry and "We are the World" by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.

We settled on the newest version of the classic song that helped rally support for the earthquake in Haiti.

I probably watched this video ten times last night. I couldn't get enough of it. There is something so powerful about it. My favorite part is when the camera pans out and shows the whole choir. The choir is filled with some of the world's most AMAZING singers. There is something so beautiful about them all singing together. Singing with one voice. Sharing the spotlight. Working together.
It's true we'll make a better day. Just you and me.

Just watch and be uplifted.
