Can I share with you my favorite place in Charlotte?
Amelie's French Bakery
Let me tell you why Amelie's is unique. First of all, the pastries are amazing. Really, some of them taste like they are straight out of Parisian Boulangerie. They provide savory dinners and sweet desserts.
Second, they are open 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. They have not closed their doors in over two years.
When the recession hit, they made a bold move. Rather than cut back on their hours, they increased their hours of operation to always. It has turned their business around. No matter what day or time Allen and I go, there is a line out the door. Oh it is worth waiting for!

We started with a warm, fresh baguette and a sun dried tomato/ basil cheese spread.
Delicious is an understatement.
I enjoyed a breakfast croissant with egg and sausage.
Allen devoured a turkey and bacon croissant.
Since we were sitting in comfy chairs, I slouched deep into my seat and didn't bother with the croissant crumbs that fell all over me. Messy, yes, but I was happy.
Feast your eyes on this dessert display!
The Most Mouth Watering Award
goes to
but they deserve a post all to themselves.
The other unique thing about Amelie's is the decor. "One of a Kind" doesn't really capture the eclectic nature of the bakery. It is basically an art/decor students dream. There are no boundaries. No limits. Just a french themed hodgepodge. I love it.
Amelie, I really do love you.
